Community Health Centers of Burlington Vote AFT Vermont YES!

On May 9th, 2019, a majority of the 100 Professional Staff at the Community Health Centers of Burlington voted YES to organize a union with AFT Vermont.

This group of staff includes Healthcare Providers (Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners), Behavioral Health / Social Work Staff and Registered Nurses.

Community Health United: Our mission is to let every voice be heard and to show every worker respect, so that our patients benefit from that same healing sense of belonging. We believe in each other, and our ability to contribute constructively to the decisions that affect our CHCB community. We believe in workers who are empowered. We believe in equitable and transparent pay. We know that when we work together we create a stronger community. In this environment, we the workers are able to provide the highest quality care for our patients. In addition, as staff at CHCB, we are organizing our union to empower ourselves and our patients to:

· Develop communication systems that are participatory, transparent and accountable to our staff and our community.

· Negotiate a legally binding contract that fosters an environment of respect where our staff have an equal voice in decision making.

· Create more transparency and participation across the organization around wages, benefits, job descriptions and the direction of our beloved Health Center.
