Operations Director

AFT Vermont has doubled its membership in the last five years and is looking to add an Operations Director so that we can continue to win justice for our existing members and support new members joining the labor movement.

The Operations Director will work with the AFT Vermont Board, the Executive Director, the Organizing Director to: 

  • Assist in creating and implementing systematic staff and member training and education
  • Support the AFT Vermont Board with logistics, regulatory compliance and finances
  • Support plans to recruit and retain staff including human resource functions
  • Work with staff, AFT Vermont Board and Local Union leaders to embed racial and social justice in all of our work.
  • Pitch in as needed to make sure AFT Vermont continues to win victories for our members and the working class.

Qualifications: 

Five years experience in two or more of the following

  • Experience with Labor Unions (or non-profits committed to racial and/or social justice)
  • Experience with cataloging, creating and leading trainings
  • Experience with supporting staff/human resources
  • Experience with supporting a Board (union or non-profit)
  • Ability to learn our software tools (Powerbase, Hustle, Action Network, Quickbooks, etc)

Compensation: This position is based in Burlington, Vermont with occasional statewide travel. The salary is $74,000-$86,000 a year depending on experience. This is a management position.  Benefits include fully employer paid medical & dental insurance, 8% employer contribution to 401K, and generous paid time off benefits (30 days accrued time in the first year & 14 holidays).
